In academic writing, direct
quotations are often used as supporting sentences. In fact, you must use
quotation marks if you use someone else’s words in a paper. If you do not put
quotation marks around the borrowed sentences, you are guilty of plagiarism.
Notice how quotations are used to support ideas.

Total Physical Response
Total Physical Response (TPR) was
developed by James Asher, a
professor of psychology at San Jose State University, in 1977.
It is a language teaching method built around the coordination of speech and action; it attempts to teach language
through physical (motor) activity. According to Asher, motor activity is a
right-brain function that should precede left-brain language processing.
